Artist Bio
A native Texan, Camille was born and lives in Dallas. Her earliest creative talents were expressed musically as a classical pianist, leading her to pursue and obtain a music degree from Southern Methodist University. Shortly thereafter, practical considerations guided Camille toward graduate school where she obtained a master’s in business administration from Dallas Baptist University and began her career as a financial analyst.
It was not until 1997 that she rekindled her creativity and discovered her self-expression as a watercolor artist. While recovering from a spinal injury that brought her financial career to a close and left her suffering with chronic pain from damaged spinal nerves, Camille enrolled in a six-week watercolor class being offered at her church. It was from there, with paint brushes in hand, that she ultimately found a new direction in life.
Shortly thereafter, she left her demanding 13-year career in the banking industry to pursue her entrepreneurial desire to be vocationally creative as a watercolor artist. Her original paintings reflect a variety of subject matter including western images, inspirational themes, portraiture, still life, flowers, and animals. Camille enjoys interpreting the world around her with just enough visual clues to encourage her viewing audience to complete the “final” picture with their own imaginations.
For eighteen years, in spite of debilitating chronic pain, Camille celebrated her faith-based joy of life and found relief in painting. Through the years Camille has shared her story of God’s faithfulness through her autobiographical stage presentation, “Keep Coloring! Love, God”, her companion book of the same title, numerous art shows, demonstrations and workshops. She loves to encourage others to see God’s joy in all of life’s experiences.
Camille’s life took an unexpected and miraculous turn in early 2009 when, through circumstances she can only describe as Divinely-orchestrated, she was released from the physical pain that had demanded her attention during the preceding two decades. With joy she can hardly contain, Camille reflects on the experience:
“Without a doubt in my mind and humbled by the experience, I rejoice in the
knowledge that I’ve been touched by the Great Healer himself, Jesus Christ.
His timing is perfect. His cure is complete. His presence is real.”
As Camille begins the next chapter of her life with great anticipation, she continues to love her Lord, her family, her friends, her dogs, her work and all the joys that a Christ-oriented life promises to reveal.
